Results: 75-100 WBC's/hpf || Numerous gram positive diplococci || Rare gram positive cocci in clusters
Note: Notice the lancet-shaped Strep. in pairs and short chains (gram positive diplococci). In some areas the Strep. are over-decolorized and easily confused with gram negative rods. Positive Quellung reaction would be diagnostic.
