Results: 5-10 Sq. Epith./lpf || 50-75 WBC's/hpf || Numerous gram negative rods
Note: Evaluate the smear under low power to find a representative area (preferably an area with WBC's). These gram negative rods are morphologically typical of the enteric group (Klebsiella, E. coli, Serratia, Enterobacter) and cannot be distinguished from each other on gram stain. Under oil immersion there are mostly gram negative rods. Occasionally there are fusiforms (probably anaerobes) present.
