KEY POINTS: A significant cause of bacterial vaginosis with other microbial flora (Mobiluncus, Mycoplasma hominis, Prevotella and others). A gram negative rod characterized histologically by "clue cells", which are epithelial cells covered with bacteria. Metronidazole or clindamycin are the drugs of choice in treating bacterial vaginosis.
